The Pyramid of Cheops

A Peg Solitaire Puzzle

The Pyramid of Cheops - Solitaire Puzzle

The greatest of the Egyptian pyramids was built as a tomb for the pharaoh Cheops. This pattern was named for it because it is the largest pyramid that can be fitted on the solitary board. The aim of the puzzle is to reduce the pattern to a single peg in the vertical line cell. The classic solution required 12 moves, but in 1963, Harry O. Davis of Portland, Oregon found a way in eight moves. Remember, chain moves count as a single move.
