Start with 37 pegs in all cells except the center vertical line cell. When eight corner pegs are removed, as in this diagram (the blank cells), the shape formed by the occupied cells is an eight-pointed star, or octagram. The aim of the puzzle that begins with the octagram is to remove all of the pegs except one. The final peg must remain in the center vertical line cell. A total of 28 jumps, removing an equal number of pegs, can be used to solve this puzzle, but since they include four double jumps, the solution consists of only 24 moves.
